 Mrs. Chiono's Website

Hello and welome to my site!  This is all new to me so be patient while I navigate building a website for my courses.  I'm teaching both Ceramics and Health this year and look forward to working with your child.

I have been teaching at MHS since fall of 1986 and have a couple of years in Sacramento and Woodland schools prior.  I have always taught Ceramics, teaching beginning and advanced, handbuilding and wheel-throwing.  Every class period is a blend of students, grades 9 - 12 and those at different course levels.

In Health, this is a one-semester course where we study various emotional and physical components of ourselves. This is a graduation requirement for MJUSD and all of the units are part of curriculum requirements of the state.  I strive to teach your child the value of themselves, how to set and attain goals, quality relationships with family and friends, nutrition and exercise, abuse, date rape, drug and alcohol abuse, sexually transmitted diseases and male/female sexuality.

a bit about myself....

I went to college at CSU, Sacramento where I obtained my BA in Fine Arts and a minor in Psychology.  I received my teaching credential at CSU, Chico and had the opportunity to spend one semester in Dublin, Ireland in fall of 1984.  This experience of teaching aboard cemented in me the love of teaching!

I have lived in the area for nearly 40 years when my father retired from the Air Force.  Growing up in the area, I have a great deal of love for the Yuba-Sutter area.  My husband and I have two children, one in college and another in the 7th grade.  Living in Marysville keeps me close to my students, their families and our community.
